Why We Created Spot-Ya

Helping each other should bring us closer.

We all have people we turn to when life gets difficult—family, friends, and trusted connections who help us navigate life. Sometimes, that support means spotting someone money when they need it most.

Spot-Ya grew out of real-life situations: helping someone financially, waiting on promised payments, and seeing how unclear expectations can strain a relationship.

A promise to “pay you back Friday” can become an uncomfortable conversation when Friday passes. Partial payments become difficult to track. One person remembers a loan; another remembers a gift. When circumstances change, embarrassment or frustration can lead to silence—and a great friendship suddenly diminishes over a money transaction.

That is why we developed Spot-Ya: to help people create clear agreements, track payments, and communicate when plans change. Whether repayment happens all at once, in smaller amounts, or through agreed upon goods or services, shared records help everyone understand where things stand.

Our primary goal is to help preserve friendships and family relationships when money is involved. We want people to feel comfortable offering support, understand their commitments, and keep the details clear from the beginning.
